Power Rangers celebrates its 15th anniversary! Pt. 2

So I left off after the Mighty Morphin' era. Now it's time to move on the what is not the traditional format for the show.

Power Rangers Zeo (Season 4)
The rangers get new powers, new Zords, a new Command Center, and oh hey, new costumes finally. They apparently are based on geometric symbols or something. I don't really know. The enemy this time around was the Machine Empire, a bunch of... well machines and robots. Before Zeo, Aisha left at the end of MMPR and in her stead was Tanya, the new Yellow Ranger. Billy still stayed with the team although he wasn't a ranger anymore. Why? I've no idea but it seems that the expert is now on the sidelines just aiding them. Oh yes, the Gold Ranger was introduced in this one. (With the temporary return of Jason!) He actually wore a black suit but had extra gold armor and junk. He's originally the King Ranger, with the symbol on his mask in the shape of the Chinese character for "king" which is "ou" in Japanese. It's also the name of this series too (Ohranger). One thing I really hated was how Billy was written off the show. Go with the Aquitars? Nuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Wait, they still used those guys? I believe it was around this time that Bulk and Skull worked as detectives on the police force too. Awesome.

Power Rangers Turbo (Season 5)
Ah, possibly one of the most least likable seasons ever. It all points down to Justin, Justin, Justin. Supposedly Fox thought it'd be nifty if a kid could be ranger so it happened. Now, I'm not saying they can't. They certainly can if done right, but Justin wasn't right. I'm sure he easily pissed everyone off. Another act was when the cast members minus Justin were suddenly replaced with T.J., Cassie, Ashley, and Carlos. I do believe it was Jason David Frank and Catherine Sutherland (Tommy and Kat) that wanted to leave the show and I guess the crew had no choice but to have the others leave too. They weren't as powerful too. Most episodes weren't really serious even though it looked like it was supposed to. Instead of a sixth ranger, we get a futuristic Robocop-like character. *sirens* The Zords were now driven vehicles too, which was a nice change from the animals. It was mainly focused on cars as this adaptation is from Carranger. There was a similar, much older series before MMPR that was called Turboranger but that was entirely different. Also, Zordon had to go because his planet needed him or something. So while he was gone Dmitria took over, a goddess being who was in fact the twin sister of evil pirate queen Divatox, the villainess of the series. And Alpha 5 was replaced with Alpha 6. Ai yai yai yai yai yai.....

Power Rangers In Space (Season 6)
Now this is one possibly my favorite season of all. Superheroes in outer space. That's morphanominal. In space totally saved the franchise, at least that's what I believe. After the very cruddy Turbo it seems the show would have been canceled for good. Thankfully space and sci-fi were really trendy at this time (with the new trilogy of Star Wars movies after all) and Space lived up to it. I got to hand it to Saban for this rendition of Megaranger. Originally this wasn't a space series but a videogame sort of thing with spaceships and stuff. What they did was completely different from the American counterpart. Space introduced Andros, the new leader and his best friend Zhane, the powerful Silver Ranger... who... looks astonishingly like Brad Pitt. No, I'm serious. Also introduced was Andros' sister Karone, who was in the beginning the villianess of the season, Astronema. This season was the last of the 6-years worth of a major storyline. The ultimate battle of good vs. evil. Countdown to Destruction, the finale of Space and the end of a story. Truly epic goodiness. The rangers had morphed in front of millions of people when they were attacked, and on Andros' home planet was Zordon and a bundle of old foes. That includes Rita, Zedd, and their minions, Divatox, the Machine Empire, and a whole lot of turd. There was no other way to defeat them all until Zordon had to be sacrificed. Andros destroyed Zordon's tube an as a result the wavy of energy from Zordon swept the entire land and engulfed all evil. Monsters were destroyed and main villains like Rita, Zedd, and Divatox were purified into human beings. Ah, such a mighty time.

Part three continues next time with the new ever changing yet continuing story!
